Christchurch City Council is asking residents to provide feedback on the clearway trial currently operating on Hagley Avenue.
The trial applies to the north side of Hagley Avenue, between St Asaph Street and Riccarton Avenue. According to the Council, the clearway has been in place for the past year and operates during the day between 7.30am and 7.30pm. During that period, the lane remains available for normal traffic flow.
Outside those hours, the arrangement allows for approximately 18 additional on-street car parks to be available in the evening.
The area is an important route near Christchurch Hospital, Hagley Park, and the central city, which means changes to parking and traffic flow can affect a wide range of people, including commuters, hospital visitors, residents, and city workers.
Council feedback periods are an opportunity for people who use the area regularly to share whether the trial is working as intended, whether it has improved traffic flow, and whether the extra evening parking is useful.
Residents who travel through or park near Hagley Avenue are encouraged to check the Council information and submit feedback before decisions are made about the future of the clearway.
