Netball New Zealand has appointed Jennah Wootten as chief executive, handing one of the country's largest women's sports to an experienced sports leader after a difficult period.

Wootten acknowledged the sport had been through an incredibly tough 12 months. Her appointment comes as netball works to rebuild trust, strengthen pathways and maintain commercial relevance.

The role will require more than steady administration; it will demand visible leadership and a clear plan to reconnect players, fans and the wider netball community.

Players, fans and commercial partners will all be watching for the first signs of strategic direction.

The key question is whether netball can turn a difficult chapter into renewed momentum.
