Christchurch City Council has confirmed staged renewal works on sections of Ferry Road, Riccarton Road and Main North Road over the coming months. Most works will run outside peak hours where possible, with full closures avoided wherever traffic management allows.

The Ferry Road works are part of the long-running Major Cycleway programme and include kerb realignment, new signalised crossings and resurfacing between Tuam Street and Ensors Road. Completion is currently scheduled for late autumn 2026.

On Riccarton Road, water main renewals between Matipo Street and Clyde Road will require lane reductions during off-peak hours. Bus services along the route are expected to operate close to schedule, with minor stop relocations communicated by Metro.

Residents and businesses directly affected by each stage will receive letterbox drops at least two weeks before works begin. Live updates and detour maps are published on the Council's Transport Projects page.
